The company
Delta Engineering builds automation machinery for manufacturers - precision leak testing, trimming, packaging and assembly - helping them cut waste and streamline production. From its base in Ophasselt, Belgium, the company was scaling its commercial reach and needed a Business Development Engineer to open new markets and build partnerships.
The challenge
The brief asked for ten years of technical sales in automation and an engineering degree, but the real constraint was narrower. The person had to understand plasma coating and the print and ink market well enough to hold a technical conversation with people who have spent a career in it - and still sell like a hunter. Engineering know-how without the sector knowledge stalls in the first meeting; sector knowledge without the engineering background does not survive a technical review. That intersection is small, and everyone standing in it is already employed.
Our approach
We searched the intersection rather than the job title: automation and machine building, plasma and surface treatment, and the print, ink and coating supply chain - people who had sold into those processes and could read the engineering behind them. 650 profiles were sourced and screened, and 65 went through a structured first interview with JN Recruitment covering technical depth, hunting behaviour and appetite for international travel. Delta Engineering received its first candidate 10 working days after kick-off.
The result
The first introduction reached Delta Engineering 10 working days after kick-off, drawn from 650 profiles and narrowed through 65 first interviews by our team - every candidate combining an engineering background with real exposure to plasma coating or the print and ink industry.
